Tourism Information of Religion in Iran

Religion in Iran Iran has seen many different religions and faiths over its long history. Some of these religions are indigenous and they are originated from Iranian culture and civilization and some others are rooted in foreign cultures and civilizations. Although some of these religions have experienced many ups and downs throughout history, they still have their own adherents in Iran and their rituals and ways are being practiced. However, Shia Islam is currently considered as the official religion of Iran and the vast majority of people are the followers of this region. Other Abrahamic religions (Christianity and Judaism) and Zoroastrianism are recognized in Iran and their followers are free to practice their rituals. Moreover, these religious minorities also have their own representative in the Iran parliament. Other religions like Baha’ism and atheist cults are not recognized in Iran.
